Welcome to February's 'Workshop Update'. Read on to find out about restocked products, a couple of interesting workshop jobs and to see a couple of our customers bikes.
Time Away
February tends to be a quiet month for Kingpin Components, largely because for the last couple of years I have spent two weeks of the month working as a ski rep in the Italian Alps. I get plenty of skiing in and it doesn't actually cost me anything - what more could I ask for?

This year I left my Dad, Steve, in charge of sending out orders and I had my laptop with me to keep on top of emails and any other admin work that came along. This was the first time I've been able to go away and not simply close the business for two weeks. It worked reasonably well but I was having too much fun and did fall behind in the end. I apologise to those who had to wait for responses or orders - but I have now caught up and, if you haven't got your parts yet, they are on the way.
Website Improvements & Technical Section Expansion
I'm putting a lot of time into this website at the moment and I hope you will be able to see the fruits of my labour over the coming months. While I was away I finished and published a revamped version of the About page which I hope you will agree gives a good picture of what we do at Kingpin Components.
I have also been working hard on the Technical section of the website. Most of the work so far is behind the scenes, but it will make it a lot easier for me to add and edit pages going forward. I have a list of over 30 ideas for new pages to add, and these will be coming online over the coming months. I hope you will find these useful when you're working on your projects and, like with the blog, I promise they won't be salesy.

What's New?
Back in Stock - Lightweight Webb Girder Fork Nut with Damper Thread
As I have already said, February was a bit of a slow month and I didn't get much time in the workshop myself. I did however take delivery of another batch of these. Made in stainless steel these really smarten up the girder forks. The originals are often chewed up, rusty and the threads take a hammering.
What's Next?
Norton Magneto Vernier Sprockets

These were a very early addition to my range of parts but I've been out of stock on the 15 and 16 tooth Norton ones for quite a while. The sprockets themselves are due to be completed by the end of March and the rest of the parts, which are common with other sizes, are on the shelf and ready to go. If not in March I hope to have these available again in early April.
Customers Projects
I've been really pleased by the response to this when I've been asking people for pictures. If you'd like to see your bike featured here please send me a picture.
NB: I only include pictures here after I have been given permission from the owner. Any pictures I am sent whilst working on, or supplying parts for, bikes will not get shared without your consent.
Featherbed ES2 Track Bike
Ben in the UK sent this picture. In his words it is 'Ridden in anger (by a slow rider!). Currently looking to increase compression ratio and run ethanol'
Looks good to me! I have asked Ben for some more pictures and info about this bike and I'm hoping we'll be able to catch up soon. More to follow on this one I hope.

1927 Velocette Model K
This Velo belongs to Paul in New Zealand. I don't know very much about the cammy Velos - but I can tell you that this is a very early one and I can see that Paul has done a beautiful job of the restoration.

Personal Projects & Time Away
Still no work on my bikes this month! The ski trip made that inevitable. I did pick up a box full of powder coated parts just before I went away so hopefully, by the end of March, I'll have done some work on my own bikes and I'll have something to write about here.
The weather has improved enough to almost tempted me out on a bike a couple of times. Almost... I've booked a trip to France in May on which I plan to use my 1929 Harley. It's all up and running but I haven't done many miles on it since some fairly major gearbox work last year - so I'd like to start getting that out and put some miles on it before setting off for Dover!
