Welcome to the Kingpin Components Blog

Happy New Year!

Is it too late to still be saying that? Possibly, but it seems like a good place to start.

I've decided this is the year to start putting some time and effort into the Kingpin Components blog. I'm not completely new to the idea of 'blogging'. I have written a lot about my travels over on AndyOn2Wheels. Some of you are probably familiar with it, if you're not, it's still there.

I've already shared a handful of those posts on the Kingpin Components site, but this is the first post I've written specifically for visitors to Kingpin Components.

So... I hear you ask, what will you be writing about?

Let me be clear on this - I have no plans to use this as an opportunity to sell. I have a shop for that. I am, first and foremost a motorcyclist who has found great pleasure in restoring, maintaining and riding classic bikes since long before I started Kingpin Components. That is what this blog will reflect.

Here's what you can expect to find me writing about:

  • My own bikes - Why I chose them, what I've done to them and what I use them for

  • Restorations, maintenance and workshop jobs - What worked, and what didn't...

  • Rides, rallies and events - the places I go and the experiences that come with using classic bikes

  • Honest opinions, lessons learned and practical advice - Living with classic bikes today

Although I continue to run Kingpin as a one-man band, I'm not completely isolated. I do get help and regularly work with other enthusiasts, so who knows, I might be able to rope in the odd guest contributor to offer a different perspective and a bit of variety.

Less tech - more riding on this Blog

Inevitably there is overlap between my hobby and the running of Kingpin Components - that overlap will appear in this blog. I’ll be writing about parts I’m developing, interesting customer projects, and problems that needed solving. The intention isn’t to turn this into another technical reference section; those more information-heavy articles will stay in the Technical section of the website. This blog is about the day-to-day stuff that comes from classic motorcycles being both hobby and business.

I'll share a link to new posts on my Facebook page so feel free to follow me on there to keep up.

Why not let me know in the comments what you'd like to read about?
